New Years Eve 2017. Brussels, Belgium

I've got some pretty exciting travel news for y'all! I guess we can say that fall finally arrived to this little island of Malta. Even though the sun is shining, you can feel that the air is cooler and the streets less crowded. I am not complaining this year, I have so many fall and Christmas feelings already and I can't wait for December!

Unfortunately (Or fortunately) have I way too many trips coming up so I need to skip my family's yearly Halloween party this year. Normally this is the highlight of my year, but it will just have to wait till next year.

So, Bucharest is done already. Berlin is coming up for another conference and also Leeds, Brazil, London, Sweden and finally New York. Could this winter BE any more exciting? Nope, I do not think so.

Stay updated for photos!
xoxo

My family came over for a visit last Saturday. Unlucky as I am was I home in bed with the flu the first 3 days. Fortunately have they been here so many times before that they know where to go. Even if they sometimes get lost on this little island :)

My mom and I tried the new Dr Juice in Gzira the other day before work and ended up with a gluten free waffle made of coconut flour and almond milk., topped with blueberries and avocado (!!) ice cream. YUM!

Finally Thursday, almost Friday!

I guess I shouldn't complain. I was home from work with a fever this Monday and Tuesday and basically slept for 2 days. It was... nice! I think I needed that sleep after last trip to Bucharest. More about that as soon as I have all the photos ready.

Time to go and see It tonight at the movies, I am probably more excited that anyone! Will let you know how it was tomorrow.

Cheers!

I told you guys earlier this spring that we would be heading over to Memphis after Nashville. We made the decision to skip Memphis, drive straight to New Orleans and save 1 day in the car. Looking back, I think it was a good decision even though I'm disappointed I didn't get to see Graceland.

Below are some pictures that I took during the first day in this beautiful city of New Orleans.

I took so many pictures of the houses and the area. It was just so beautiful!

We stayed at Hilton close to the French quarters. It was walking distance to Bourbon street from our hotel and we just wandered the streets. Isn't the best thing ever just to get lost in a new city and find the hidden treasures?

We found a café or a bar with a cute garden with live music. As in every bar they served the Daiquiris and who am I to say no to a cocktail? We also tried the famous Beignets which is probably the best thing Iv'e ever tasted in my whole life!

I will continue our adventure in New Orleans in my next post since I have waaay to many pictures.

It is always nice to come home. No matter how late it is, my family still wants to celebrate my birthday in a proper way.

I had a fantastic day with a huge breakfast, lunch, homemade Strawberry cake & Champagne plus Asian food at a restaurant. Perfect day in other words.

Aaand, my photos don't have to be this bad anymore (Thank god). I got the camera I wanted so from now on there will only be good quality photos here :)

Enjoy!

I managed to get a few sunny days in Sweden. I spent most of my time sitting out on the terrace while eating, drinking and relaxing. It has been a great few days and I really needed the slow tempo (even though It almost drove me crazy a few times)

Here we are enjoying a BBQ with chicken, sweet potato fries, corn and salad. Yum!

Even in the most random places can paradise be found.

Flower garden, sun and a great lunch with good company. That's how I spent my first day in Sweden.

I'll only be here for a short time so will try to make the most out of it. Will soon be heading out for a dinner with my family, Asian cuisine of course. Tomorrow I'll meet my dear childhood friends and I am soo excited!

Enjoy your Saturday

Maltese people can sometimes surprise me. I was walking along the promenade as I do almost every evening and suddenly noticed these small houses with lots of kittens.

Someone must have put a lot of time and love in building this cat hotel for that small cat family. It's adorable!

I know there are a few cat hotels around Sliema and St Julians but this one was something extra. The love and care people on this island got for cats sure makes up for the horrid service.

I have probably had the most unproductive weekend in history. It's not often that I stay home during a Friday night without having any plans for neither Saturday or Sunday.

I need to have something to do, otherwise I'll get bored. It was a challenge to stay home during Friday and just not do anything. I ended up in the past, about 10 years ago when I spend all my time playing the Sims.

Candy, tea and the Sims was my Friday night. Good start to my 25+ huh?

I managed to get out for about 1 hour this weekend, otherwise I've just stayed at home eating. Malta has been hit by a heatwave and it's impossible to do anything...

The negative side of living on a such small island is that you often meet people you don't want to. There is nowhere to hide and it's hard to escape your ghosts.

I sometimes wish I lived somewhere else. Someplace where you could leave the past in the past and not worry about it affecting your future. Any suggestions for such a place?

That's me by the way, trying to look smart on a Monday.

I started my Birthday Weekend the best possible way; Having a fantastic dinner high up in the sky.

Last year could Dinner in the Sky be found in Valletta during the summer months here in Malta. I really wanted to go then already but because of the huge interest almost all days were booked! They moved to Golden Bay this year and I Went there yesterday. It is a very calm area out in the nature which makes it a great spot to enjoy a nice dinner. If you are lucky to get the early sitting at 7 pm will you be on the first row for an amazing sunset.

The staff was super friendly and they made the evening even more special. I would definitely recommend this to adventure seekers!

My Birthday weekend is soon here! Or do you get a week now a days?

Since I am turning 25 on a Monday have I decided to spend the whole weekend with friends and do things that I like.

Friday: Amazing Dinner planned

Saturday: Birthday Party

Sunday: Recovery (!!)

Monday: Birthday. Fantastic breakfast followed by a day at a roof top pool here in Malta.

I made an attempt to make the back yards nicer (While having 2 cats staring at me) The sofa that I started working on in spring time is also done, but I am missing different pillows in great colours for the final touch.

More photos of the sofa and back yard is coming soon!

Thanks for reading,

Summer weekends in Malta... What can I say? They are never boring.

Buut, since I'm such a big travel freak can I of course never enjoy the moment and always need to think about my next trip. I am at the moment obsessed with Bali (Even more than the states?!) and I'm planning to go there in winter time. I have found an amazing villa with pool that I just need to book. This trip will be a bit different than the rest since I am probably going by myself. Another fantastic adventure!

As I wrote in my last post, my friends and I are planning on going back to USA soon, so Bali will just be a great bonus. Yey!

On the agenda in July & August:

- Have an awesome birthday weekend

- Visit family in Sweden

- Business trip to Bucharest!

Have a good one,

The story of the Road trip in United States #2 continues...

The day after we visited Washington DC and slept a night in Staunton. Virginia was it time for us to drive out west. Our goal was the country inspired and my personal favourite city so far - Nashville, Tennessee.

Since I've been a country nerd ever since I was a kid have I always dreamt about going there. Even though the hotel we stayed at was a bit off, could we still enjoy the city and the nightlife after just a short Uber ride later.

We went to Broadway, or the Honky Tonk central where the streets were filled with bars, music and happy people. Almost every single bar had live music and it was for sure difficult to choose which bar to start with.

When we finally decided for a bar could Henrik enjoy the great beer selection, Hanna the Rangers game on the TV and myself the live band who to my happiness played Zac Brown Band. I believe we looked like three idiots barely talking, just smiling while sitting next to each other by the bar. The bartender actually asked what was wrong with us and if the quietness was a European thing.

I still regret that I didn't buy any cowboy boots or a hat in the fantastic Cowboy store we found. My friends looked at me like I was an alien when I wanted to buy something so I decided not to. What a stupid decision! I would for sure have been noticed here in Malta while wearing that...

As we only had one night in Nashville and because we had to drive so long the next day did we decide not to have such a late night after all. I believe we were back at the hotel around midnight and all of us went to bed with a smile on our faces. We were finally in the real United States and we loved it.

It feels like we didn't even make it back from the states and our road trip before starting to plan the next one. I love it!

I have some exciting business trips coming up and ideas of where I want to go the coming months. My plan was not to go back to USA for at least a year, but then I started talking to my travel buddies...

Before I start talking about the next one will I tell you about the last trip. We saw some pretty fantastic things in USA that I need to share with you.

Don't miss the next post ...

I haven't been writing here for a while. There are a few different reasons for this and basically I have not been on top of my world.

I have recently started at a new company working with Marketing and I absolutely love it. It has been a great start and the team is amazing. We are launching a new site very soon, Twin.com and it will be great.

The picture above is taken at Showers, Malta's biggest summer event. We do enjoy every single moment of the summer here in Malta, even tho you melt away in the heat! Here are some pictures from the last week.

I will be back soon with lots of photos and stories from our USA roadtrip. It was the best trip of my life and I would strongly recommend anyone to do the same!

We made a quick stop in Washington D.C just to see the most important stuff. I don't think we got a real good impression of the city so should probably go back in the future. Here are some pictures for you guys.

We kept on driving for two more hours after Washington and stayed in a cute town called Staunton in Virginia.

Idyllic isn't it?

The next stop is a clear favorite so far. Will upload photos soon.

Enjoy!

I'm so happy we went back to New York this year and made it our first stop on the road trip.

We have mostly been walking around the island of Manhattan every day. Our legs are hurting and we have all lost some weight but it felt great just walking around. When Henrik and Hanna took a taxi from Madison Square Garden after the Rangers game was I left to walk to Spitzers from Broadway. I'm very impressed that I made it down to East Village in 25 minutes. Might have been the beer calling to me...

We managed to see the important stuff, enjoy nice bars, do some unnecessary shopping, realize that we hate Chinatown and visit the Trump tower twice (thanks Henrik!)

Battery Park & Statue of Liberty

Pizza at Gemma's - highly recommended breakfast place!

World Trade Center memorial

The luxury of green parks does not exist in Malta.

Sir Henrik in front of a building he likes.

Can you spot her in the background?

Time for the next stop - Washington D.C

I have always been a sucker for musicals and been trying to see one the last times I visited London and NY without success.

Today I made one of my childhood dreams reality. When Henrik and Hanna went to Madison Square Garden for the Rangers game did I think about what I want to do this last day in the city. Watching a broadway show was the first thing that popped into mind.

I booked my ticket for $80, a bit more than I wanted to spend to be honest. But oh my god how it was worth it!

The musical was amazing. I bough a cup of wine for $14 (?!) and enjoyed the show all in my lonesomeness. Even though I would have liked some company, I truly enjoyed the show and sucked in every moment of it.

Tonight I'm sleeping with a happy and peaceful mindset. I wish I could experience this kind of entertainment every week...

It took me about 45 minutes to walk back to Spitzer's corners, our favorite bar. I really love New York at nighttime and just strolling the streets feels amazing. By an accident did I walk past the street where they shoot Carrie Bradshaw's flat in Sex and the City. Such a cute block!

It is time for bed now. We will start driving tomorrow and the first stop is Washington.

Nighty!

I just couldn't help myself... I had to check Victoria's Secret. And I did of course find something so amazing I had to buy it..

New York has become my shopping city for lingerie. I spend a small fortune last year and apparently that's my trend from now on.

Since I'd already started I just had to continue.. I have always loved Agent Provocateur and I bought an amazing bra there last year. Today I found another.

Isn't amazing how spending way too much money can make you feel so good?

We are changing now and getting ready to go to some bars. Until then!

Found an amazing breakfast place and we just had to order lots of food. Blueberry pancakes, bacon, yogurt, bagels and coffee.

AMAZING!

After 7 hours of waiting, a total of 13 hours in the air and 1 and a half hour in the uber could we finally see the island of manhattan. We arrived to an externally hot and humid spring day that was worse than Malta sometimes. We are staying in Chinatown in a very interesting flat.. but very close to this new and cool bar The beer garden.

Left work around 4 today to run home as fast as I could to go to the airport. Stepped on a freaking thorn from a rose which got stuck in the foot so I could barely walk... just my luck.

We made it to the airport before 18,00 and had time for a drink.

Sitting in the lounge at Istanbul airport right now and waiting. We had 8 hours of waiting ahead, only 4 more to go. Thank god for the open bar!

We should be arriving in Manhattan in 12 hours.. until then!

Mallorca last year

My timing has obviously never been good... leaving in 2 days, have tons to do and I have been stuck in bed with a fever for the past 4 days. Just great!

I managed to do some light packing today. Nothing matches and everything is in black. As usual I guess!

I am going back to work tomorrow and have lots to do before we go. The girls are coming over tonight so that we can say goodbye to our dear friend Betina who chose to left us. She is leaving next week when we are gone so this will be the last time we all get together.

1/3 of the sofa is done.... I'm not good with deadlines either.

Tomorrow I have to go to the hairdresser, run some errands and buy some stuff before we go. And yeah - work!

Just booked a table at L'Artist restaurant in Sliema for tomorrow evening for a nice dinner. I have never been there before but really hope the food will be nice. Have been longing for a bloody steak the past days. Yum!

Enjoy

On our way to Miami from New Orleans will we make 2 stops. Mostly because the driving distance is too far.

The first stop will be Panama City in Florida and it should take us about 5 hours to get there without stops. I can honestly say that I don't know anything about the city except from what I've seen on Google. And Oh My God does it look amazing!

Small tip to all the travel fanatics out there:

I always use Hotels.com while making my bookings. I really like the site and their rewards program is amazing. I have received many free nights after my trips just by using my account on Hotels.com. To be honest, I spend about 1-2 hours per day on the site and it is perfect for a travel nerd like myself....

Top Destinations #10: Click Here for the Best Miami Beach Hotel Deals!

Myrtles Plantation, St Francisville, Louisiana

There is something about plantations.... The place is filled with history, both gruesome and interesting. I don't know why the places interest me so much but visiting one is for sure on top of my bucket list.

I believe Myrtles Plantation is the most famous one for it's haunted history. My friends knows how much I love the supernatural so staying at this Bed and Breakfast would be like a dream coming true. Luckily for me are we already going to Louisiana!

This is the Fannie Williams room, also called "The Doll Room" at Myrtles Plantation. Only the name gives me the creeps.

You can actually stay here for only $175 per night and that includes breakfast and a mystery tour. Sounds pretty amazing to me, I just need to convince one of my travel partners to go with me for one night. Unfortunately all of them are pretty scared and don't really like the haunted stuff (Good thing going to New Orleans then?)

The plantation is located 1,5 hours outside of New Orleans so it will be a bit of a drive, but would be totally worth it for me.

Will this be an adventure I have to do by myself?

I met this dog on Friday. She would have been great with Lucia and I kinda regret I didn't steal her..

I also never finished the sofa this weekend. Am I surprised? Nope, not at all. I will postpone it to tomorrow...

I am ending this long weekend in bed with lots of candy. It feels like a perfect spent evening.

The weather has been great this Easter. We spent all Friday drinking cocktails in the sun and enjoying spring.

Time to go back to work tomorrow and then home to finish that sofa. Since we didn't do anything Easter-like this weekend will we have a nice dinner tomorrow. I am really looking forward to that.

It's also less than 2 weeks until we leave to New York and I have tons of things to do before then. Busy times!

Goodnighty!

Friday - day off!

I had breakfast out on the back yard, smoothie bowl with berries and almonds.

Lucia wanted to join of course. She actually eats everything, even smoothies.

I have now been looking at the pallets for about 45 minutes. I consider that the first step in the building process. Unfortunately I didn't have time to buy paint and a hammer yesterday so the project needs to until tomorrow.

I am off for a cocktail in the sun instead, and I take back the part about no alcohol for Julia...

Some pictures from last Sundays lunch at Medasia, Sliema. We went crazy on the Asian food and ordered 6 different courses.

I am getting hungry just by looking at it.

Yesterdays breakfast at work. Must be one of the best thing with the company - Great breakfast every Wednesday!

It is Good Friday tomorrow which basically means a day off. Fantastic!

I am home at the moment, looking at a delivery of 10 Euro pallets... I am not crazy, I am just going to build a sofa for my back yard. I want to have a lounge area with BBQ on the bigger back yard and I am leaning to Moroccan theme.

Hopefully this will be done by Sunday so that I can show you the result. No drinking for Julia this weekend, instead I will be home building and painting a huge sofa. Cant wait to see how it will look!

Take care
